Okj, soo.. I just got my second pair of Gaynors - totally amazing :D
Yayyy; clean, new, fresh pointe-shoes :D
Code; 8 M 4-221-33
Size 8, width medium, box 4 (wide and square), Supple shank (comparable to a 'broken in' shoe.. the pink bag also tells the shank stiffness), sleek vamp and heel :D
Click [here] for more info on the ''code explained'' :)
I also got the "Totally Toes Fitting Kit" which includes different types of ''extra'' padding.
As well as Bunheads' 'Flexer ribbons' which have an elastic sewn in the middle of the ribbon. The point of this is to prevent Achilles Tendonitis which is caused by too much preassure at the back of the ankle (Achilles tendon).
This was all for now, I'll probably post my opinions on the shoes later, when I have the ribbons and elastics sewn onto the shoe, and also I need to try them for real (aka dance around the house)
:D
(sorry, lappy couldn't flip the pic since i took it on my phone) |

ReplyDeleteThese are almost the same Gaynor Mindens as the shoes I was fitted in with the online fitting system (I had a W for wide shoes, the rest was exactly the same). I am considering to order these shoes, but am not sure yet, it's are very expensive to send them to Europe. What is your experience with these shoes? Thanks for your reply!
ReplyDeleteAlmost the same, but not quite ;)
DeleteMm, I personally quite love Gaynors, but everyone's different. My first pointe shoes were an absolute disaster, so the GMs are waaaayyy nicer :) Just make sure you get the right width and box (I like the tapered look of the 3-box, but the edge of it was cutting into the side of my toe - that's why I got the number 4, but it's a bit too ''high'' seen from the side - boxliners do the trick).
If possible you should get the fitted personally at a store, online shopping might be risky.... But if the GM "staff" has helped you with the fitting online I guess it's trustworthy ^^
They really are worth the prize (my first pair lasted for a year (one class each week))!! And they make it easier to achieve that pointed look :)
I say go for it!
(read your post);
Deletedo get them with the suede tips if possible! And I like the Supple shank (first pair was Extraflex) - it's soft enough to give me a good demi-pointe, yet supposrtive enough to keep me from going over/knuckling :)
